Abstract

The CSES edition of the Swedish National Election Study 2022 was conducted as a post election survey in connection with the Swedish parliamentary elections on September 11, 2022. Data collection for the survey was administered by the SOM Institute on behalf of the Swedish National Election Studies program, University of Gothenburg. The Swedish National Election Studies program is part of an international collaboration, the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES). The participating countries include the same module of questions in their respective election studies. The 2022 CSES edition is part of Module 6. Previously, CSES question modules have been included in the Swedish National Election Studies comprehensive post-election surveys. Since 2018, a new design has been used, with a separate sample for the CSES edition. The Swedish CSES is funded by the Swedish Research Council, channeled through the infrastructure consortium CORS (Comparative Research Center Sweden, www.cors.se). The CSES edition was conducted as a post-election survey at the same time as the 2022 Election Survey. Respondents had the option of completing the survey by filling in a paper questionnaire sent by post or by completing the survey online. Data collection started immediately after Election Day on September 11, 2022, and lasted until December 30, 2022. The sample (6,000 people in total) is representative of the Swedish population eligible to vote in the parliamentary election. There is no upper age limit. Swedish citizens living abroad or with a protected identity are not included in the sample.
