Abstract

The ZUMABUS has the following main survey focus areas: 1. Political attitudes, election research, 2. Attitudes to democracy, 3. Occupational prestige, 4. ZUMA standard demography. Topics: 1. Political attitudes: judgement on one´s own economic situation as well as assessment of the current economic situation of the Federal Republic; most important political problems of the Federal Republic and classification of the significance of selected political questions on a scale; assessment of the issue ability of the parties; party preference (ballot procedure, first vote and second vote); preferred and rejected federal chancellor; the significance of Helmut Schmidt, Franz Josef Strauss and Helmut Kohl for the eligibility of the respective parties. 2. Attitudes to democracy: satisfaction with democracy in the Federal Republic; self-assessment of social class; conduct of the government in the sense of special interest groups; trust in the Federal Government; attitude to a tax party and an environmental protection party; expected performance of such parties; self-classification on a left-right continuum; sympathy scale for the CDU, CSU, SPD and FDP as well as for the politicians Schmidt, Kohl, Genscher, Brandt and Strauss; general judgement on the social-liberal coalition as well as opposition in Bonn; intensity of party identification; intent to participate in the European Election; preferred party in the European Election; preference for voting for personalities or voting according to party points of view at the level of municipal elections, Federal Parliament elections and European Elections; expected role of the European Parliament; attitude to a one-party system; attitude to increased demonstrations in Bonn; attitude to a prohibition of the DKP; attitude to free expression of opinion (scale); assessment of the abilities necessary to become a member of Parliament; judgement on the waste of money in Bonn; attitude to a grand coalition; understanding of...
