Finnish Opinions on Security Policy and National Defence

The Finnish Opinions on Security Policy and National Defence series includes all surveys conducted by the Advisory Board for Defence Information (ABDI). Their focus is on security policy, foreign policy and national defence. The FSD collections cover data from 1992 onwards. The surveys contain a set of core questions repeated over the years.

Abstract

In this study, citizens' opinions on what kind of attitudes other nations and the UN should adopt towards the war in the former Yugoslavia were probed. The respondents were also asked to state their views on the funding of the Finnish Defence Forces, interceptors, as well as on phenomena influencing the security of Finland and the Finnish citizens. Background variables included the respondent's sex, education, household size, annual income, phase of life, political views, and place of residence.
