The Over 50s Lifestyle Study: Secure Access was designed to gather more information from adults aged 50 and over to better understand their motivations for leaving work and whether they intend to return. Wave 1 was conducted in February 2022 and Wave 2 was conducted in August 2022.
Wave 1 included individuals aged 50 to 70 years old, who had previously answered that they were not in paid work in the Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (OPN). Respondents who had agreed to take part in a follow up survey when responding to the OPN in 2021 were asked to take part in the online survey between 8 to 13 February 2022. A sample of 13,803 adults (71.6 percent response rate) was achieved.
Wave 2 included individuals aged 50 to 65 years old, who had previously completed the Labour Market Online Survey (LMO). 43,250 individuals were sampled between 10 to 29 August 2022 and a sample of 23,490 individuals (54.4 percent response rate) was achieved.
