The purpose of this study was:
1) to examine similarities and differences between men and women with regard to union involvement and perceptions of objectives in career and promotion, and the relation of these to family responsibilities;
2) to examine similarities and differences between women members of the National Union of Teachers and National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers.
