Abstract
The research project "Natural hazards - Environmental hazards" was carried out in the period 2009 to 2010 as part of the NORKLIMA program (2004-2013), and was a collaboration between the Norwegian National Rail Administration, University of Oslo, Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, CICERO and Institute of Transport Economics. The project has studied changes in extreme weather and the impact extreme weather events have on Railways in Norway. The interdisciplinary collaboration has been at the interface between the physical processes, vulnerability and risk.
NIFS Module is a continuation of the NIFS program (Nature Hazard - Infrastructure - Flood - Landslide) and participates in the Klima 2050 Partnership. The NIFS program has been a joint effort between the Norwegian National Rail Administration, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, which are all partners in Klima 2050. The agencies have major common challenges, and good collaboration is cost-effective and competence-building for the organizations. The NIFS program was implemented during the period 2012-2015.
This project is part of several projects founded by The Research Council of Norway with project number 200689, 200610, 200637, 237859, 184724 and 184873.
