Study title

The study of Herzig et al. presents regional structured long time series on Germany’s electricity supply, added with critical annotations about sources, methods and with detailed bibliographical documentation. The preeminent importance of electricity on economy in general as well as on single economic subareas as for example handicraft, has often been highlighted. Due to a lack of a suitable basis of sources this assumption has not been documented empirically in the past. This data on hand, collected by Herzig et al., about the statistics on public electricity supply of Germany from 1890 to 1913 allows quantitative well documented studies about the emergence and development of Germanys electricity supply until the first World War on the basis of long, regional deep structured time series.
