Abstract

Attitude towards the European Constitution.
Topics: preference to include one of the following references to religious heritages of Europe in the new constitution: no further specification, reference to Christian heritage, reference to Judeo-Christian heritage, no reference at all; attitude towards one commissioner per member state in the European Commission; attitude towards selected statements on the unanimity rule: guarantees recognition of interests of all member states, slows down decision-making process; preference for decision-making in agreement of all member states or on the basis of a qualified majority in the fields of: taxation of companies, social protection, foreign policy, defence policy, budgetary discipline, reviews of the constitution, cultural matters; usefulness of a referendum on the adoption of the European Constitution in all member states; attitude towards the date of a possible referendum: same day in all member states, member states should decide by themselves; assumed participation in the referendum; assumed voting decision. Demography: sex; age; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; region; type of community; voting behaviour in the last national elections. Additionally coded was: country; interviewer ID; weighting factor.
