Abstract

EU´s response to energy challenges.Topics: frequency of the following activities: follow news related to the war in Ukraine, discuss the war in Ukraine with friends and relatives; satisfaction with the reaction to the war in Ukraine of selected actors: national authorities, European Union, NATO, citizens in the own country; approval of the following EU measures to respond to the war in Ukraine: economic sanctions against Russia, financial support to Ukraine, financing purchase and supply of military equipment to Ukraine, providing humanitarian support to the people affected by the war, banning state-owned Russian media from broadcasting in the EU, welcoming in the European Union people fleeing the war; preferred statement with regard to the the impact of the war in Ukraine on the unity of the European Union on the global stage: war strengthened the unity, war weakened the unity, no effect on the unity; assessment of the current situation in the following areas: national economy, European economy, personal standard of living; attitude towards the following statements: EU should continue to take actions to reduce its dependency on Russian gas and oil as soon as possible, rising energy prices have significant impact on personal purchasing power, recent price increases in the own country are mainly due to Russia’s aggressive behaviour; attitude towards the following statements: war in Ukraine makes it more urgent for EU Member States to invest in renewable energy, war in Ukraine makes it more urgent for EU Member States to invest in nuclear energy, price of electricity should not depend on the price of gas, it is crucial for the EU to protect critical infrastructures such as pipelines and internet cables, need for all to make effort to reduce energy consumption during peak hours; expected impact of measures taken to improve the overall economic situation by: national government, EU; willingness to take the following measures in order to cut down personal energy...
