Abstract
The social role of wives of returned migrant workers.
Topics: education level; employment and occupation; place of work;
marriage before or after husband´s migration; number of years married;
influence on husband´s decision to migrate; participation in decisions
on household budget, the childrens´ education and the purchase of
household goods before husband´s migration; responsibility for these
decisions during husband´s absence; employment, occupation and place of
work before husband´s migration; employment during husband´s absence;
tasks and duties as well as problems during husband´s absence; leisure
activities during husband´s migration; perceived change of the husband
during migration; effects of migration on the village, the family, the
children and the wife´s social role.
Additionally encoded were: place where the interview was conducted,
interviewer as well as identification of the migrant, who had already
been interviewed (ZA Study No. 5013).
