Abstract

This project is described under the acronym COMHOME. The objective was to explore aspects of the communication when the elderly expressed unpleasant emotions in a conversation with health personnel during a home health nursing visit in Norway. Sound recordings from actual visits in home health nursing was collected and analysed. The code-system VR-CoDES (Verona Coding Definition of Emotional Sequences) was chosen as an observational system, as it is well suited to identify statements that contains unpleasant feelings expressed by the elderly and the immediate response from the health personnel. In the quantitative analysis, observational data from VR-CODES was analysed.
