Abstract
This data set is derived from the “The National Broadcasting System's User Survey Form 1, 1975” that was conducted by Statistics Norway (SSB) commissioned by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). The survey from 1975 was one of SSB's annual listener and viewer surveys on behalf of NRK. Several special surveys were conducted in the period 1978 to 1985, while surveys of a more general character only were conducted in 1980 and 1983. A new arrangement with three general surveys per year was put to use from 1985.
The main purpose of the 1975 survey, like the preceding general surveys, was to estimate the share of the country's adult population that followed certain program posts on the radio and television in the course of particular survey period, and how the listeners and viewers were divided by background characteristics such as gender, age, education and professions etc. Information about how many that followed each program post entirely or partially and how many that started or ended their radio listening or television viewing in connection to the program post. Some questions that concern special topics were asked in the 1975 survey. This concerned among other things questions about changed broadcasting times for regular program posts, people's circadian rhythm, evaluation of the news coverage in different media and the possibilities for listening to the radio and watching television during the Easter holiday.
7 types of forms were prepared for this survey. Each form contained questions concerning programs for one or two particular program days (the last or the two last days before the day of the interview). What type of form each person was to be interviewed with was decided in connection to the sample selection. This was done in a way that one for each program day could obtain information from a similar number of persons.
The survey period was the week Saturday the 19th to Friday the 25th of April. This data file contains data for the interviews...
