Abstract

The survey was part of an international project on the study of values and opinions. Data collection in 1982 was a collaboration between Prof. Ola Listhaug, Department of Sociology and Social Studies, UNIT (NTNU) and Prof. Henry Valen, Department of Political Science, University of Oslo. The purpose was to obtain data that makes it possible to describe and analyze attitudes and value systems in Norwegian society, to illuminate how the values in Norwegian society is distributed compared to the values in a number of countries in Western Europe, USA and Japan and to study changes in values and attitudes over time. Sikt also have access to data from a number of other countries within the same project, see World Values Survey and the European Values Survey. It was later made new value surveys in 1990 and 1996.
