Abstract

This project examined how the Norwegian cross-case was understood and discussed in the relation between debaters on the Facebook page “Ja til å bære korset hvor og når jeg vil”, and how the discussions got entangled in bigger emotional debates concerning religion and immigration. The study was part of the research project "Engaging with Conflicts in Mediatized Religious Environments (CoMRel)". The study showed how a wide specter of views on the role of religion in the Norwegian general public are expressed through use of trigger themes and emotional triggers in the debates. Ethnographical methods were applied. For further information about ”Contested Visibility in Public Service Media: Debating the Norwegian Cross-Case, 2013”, please contact the principal investigator.
