Abstract

Attitudes and company situation of chemistry workers. Topics: The data were collected in two separate interviews. The following questions were posed in the first interview: job satisfaction after Bullock (scale); extent to which informed about the production process or the end product produced; type of training at work; contacts with colleagues due to work; necessity of observing work rules; number of direct superiors; particular evaluation of material or non-material advantages of personal work; desired changes regarding work; particular work stress and perceived changes in recent time; necessity of particular experience for one´s own work; persons influencing one´s own work or personal possibilities to influence the work of others; conversation contacts with colleagues during work; person to confide in at work for personal or factual questions; contacts with colleagues outside work; friends at work; interest in a different job. The following questions were posed in the second part of the interview: judgement on general as well as personal prospects of promotion in the company; assumption about willingness of the company to help in a personal situation of need; most important company social service and desired changes; working conditions particularly influencing one´s own work; ideal characteristics of a superior as well as of company management; consideration of employee opinion in the company; measures to strengthen employee demands; recommendations on improving the situation of workers in the company; personal understanding of co-determination; integration in the company (scale); commuting time to the company; leisure behavior; desired leisure activities; conversations about work within the family; secondary income; savings habits; preferred educational goals; assessment of general prospects for the future; satisfaction with the goal in life reached; attitude to technical progress; driving forces of technical progress.
