Abstract

The register-based census 2011 is one of the regular statistical surveys conducted by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia. Registered-based census is a method of producing data on population, households, families and dwellings by the statistical linking together existent administrative and statistical data sources without using fieldwork enumeration. With the transition to the register-based census, Slovenia joined few European countries that had already implemented this way of collecting and processing data on population, households and dwellings to reduce the administrative burden and lower research expenses. Deinvidualized microdata, available in safe environment of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, include the whole population and the majority of original variables of Register Census 2011.The register-based census 2011 is one of the regular statistical surveys conducted by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia. (1) Usual resident population of the Republic of Slovenia. All inhabitants with usual residence based on registered residence (permanent or temporary), are covered. (2) Private and institutional households of the Republic of Slovenia - groups of population (or resident living alone) living in the same dwelling with the same household number. (3) Families living in the Republic of Slovenia. A family is defined as at least two people living together in the same private household. (4) Conventional dwellings, collective living quarters and other housing units in the Republic of Slovenia.
