The prime purpose of the 1992 count was to provide an up to date estimate of the total numbers of Traveller households in Scotland, together with their distribution District by District. The secondary purpose was to obtain information about the nature of the Traveller population to assess current demographic profiles and the nature of accommodation used by Travellers.
