The aim of this study was to to collect information from a group of young people covering their experiences from the age of 16 to 19-20 years. This was done by means of a follow-up survey of some of the original respondents (and non-respondents) from the Youth Cohort Study of England and Wales 1992-1994, Cohort Six Sweeps One to Three (held at the Data Archive under SN:3532).

original members of YCS Cohort Six were surveyed as follows : 350 of 4489 in higher education who had responded at Cohort Six Sweep 3; 2000 of 5024 not in higher education who had responded at Cohort Six Sweep 3; 400 of 4935 who had responded at Cohort Six Sweeps 1 or 2, but not 3; 250 of 2933 who had not responded at any of Cohort Six Sweeps 1, 2 or 3.
