The Norwegian election research program was started in the mid-50s by the Institute for social research with Henry Valen and Stein Rokkan as research managers. The election research program collaborated with Norsk Gallup Institutt A/S on the collection of election data from the parliamentary elections in 1957, 1965, 1969 and 1973. The program has collaborated with Statistics Norway since 1977 in the implementation of the election surveys in connection with parliamentary elections.
