To study unpublished census data concentrating on the extent, direction and causes of population movements within the Northern Highland counties during the second half of the nineteenth century.

Variables
Age, sex, occupation(s) and parish of birth. In addition, in 1891, it was also noted whether an individual spoke only Gaelic, or was bilingual. Names and addresses were not included.
