Abstract
Social structure of the school as well as professional image, job
situation and education practices of teachers in North
Rhine-Westphalia.
Topics: 1. Survey of all teachers: reasons for the choice of the
teaching occupation; occupational socialization and work satisfaction;
subjects; pedagogical concept; number of hours each week; points of
view in grading and promoting; existence of pedagogical conferences;
discussion of technical problems; characterization of teaching staff;
advantages of one´s own school and comparison with other schools;
disturbances of work; reading technical journals; recognition for
achievements within and outside of school; consideration of wishes of
schoolchildren; requirements of the schoolchildren; contact with
parents, a say and consultation; educational goals of a higher school;
factors for school success; attitude to reform measures and sex
education; educational reserves among worker children.
2. Additional questions for teachers of the 10th grade interviewed:
a. for every schoolchild: judgement on ability, popularity, conduct,
influence on classmates as well as contact with parents.
b. for the class as a whole: presence of cliques, status factors in
the class and standing of the class within the school.
Demography: age; sex; marital status; number of children; religious
denomination; religiousness; school education; vocational training;
professional career; membership; media usage.
