Abstract
The Norwegian local youth survey "Ungdata" is a cross-national data collection scheme designed in order to conduct youth surveys among pupils in secondary- and upper secondary school at the municipal level in Norway. The survey covers various aspects of young people's lives, e.g. relationship with parents and friends, leisure activities, health issues, local environment, well-being, and school issues. The survey also includes questions about tobacco and drug use, and participation in various forms of antisocial behavior such as violence and bullying.
The data set consist of individual level data from pupils in secondary and upper secondary schools and the data is collected from Norwegian Municipalities in the period 2010-2021. The data is collected online during school hours. The questionnaire has a fixed part which is similar in all surveys. In addition, the form contains several elective questions that the municipalities can choose from based on interest and need. The clients can also supplement the survey with self-composed questions. The questionnaire for the Ungdata Survey is normally revised every third year.
Ungdata is a result of a professional collaboration between the research institute NOVA at OsloMet and seven regional centers of expertise within the drug use field (KORUS). The project is funded by the Norwegian Directorate of Health through yearly grants from the Norwegian State budget.
It is recommended to use three year cut as national numbers to reduce the effect of the different composition of municipalities from year to year. For more information see: https://www.ungdata.no/english/
