The British Local Government Panel Survey, 1985-1986 is a panel study of attitudes and behaviour of local government electors. The survey consisted of two waves: the first wave carried out in 1985, sponsored by the Widdicombe Committee of Inquiry into the Conduct of Local Authority Business, and the second wave carried out in 1986 and sponsored by the ESRC. The first wave conducted a total 1,145 interviews. The second wave of the survey undertook to contact all of the 1,145 interviewees from the first wave. Of these, 745 interviews were obtained. For each of these 745 respondents, information from the first and second wave interviews plus the relevant contextual data were merged. It is this merged dataset that is held at the Data Archive.
