Abstract

The main objective of the survey was to recruit more participants for the Citizen Panel of Swedish-speaking Finns (Barometern). In addition, the survey asked general political questions. The data was collected as part of the Citizen Panel of Swedish-speaking Finns (Barometern), which is part of The Finnish Research Infrastructure for Public Opinion (FIRIPO). First, respondents were asked about their ability to answer survey questions and also political questions as part of surveys. They were then asked which party candidate they would vote for if the parliamentary elections were held now and their general interest in politics was asked. They were also asked about their confidence in the government. Furthermore, they were asked how well they understand the political issues discussed in the news and were asked to reflect on their own ability to participate in social and political debates from different perspectives. Finally, respondents were asked for their opinions on current political proposals and issues. Background variables included mother tongue, gender, year of birth, level of education, left-right affiliation and gross household income.
