Abstract

The aim of this research project was to gain increased knowledge of the situation of the bereaved after the Utøya massacre. The project examines the occurrence and possible relationships between trauma and sorrow reactions, difficulties after the murders, and self-sufficiency, aid and support measures. The subjective experiences of further need for help and what can be done for this group and similar groups for the future were also studied. This knowledge will also benefit other bereaved in later traumatic deaths where people lose their loved ones individually or many at the same time. A survey and personal interviews were conducted. Kari Dyregrov lead the project at the Centre for Crisis Psychology.
