Abstract

This dataset was created to make a comparison between three tax registers from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries ('Klein Familiegeld 1674', 'Familiegeld 1715' and 'Personele Quotisatie 1742'). The data derive from articles and tables created by W.H.F. Oldewelt, as published in the Economisch-Historisch Jaarboek (economic historic yearbook) 24 and 25. The main variables of the files are occupational classes in relation to income tax. The original output of this study were 29 dBase files, 2 dBase programs, 14 Quattro Pro files, 8 Harvard Graphic files, 1 Toolbook file and 8 WordPerfect files. The dataset presented here contains only the data from the 29 dBase files and the 14 Quattro Pro files and corresponding variable lists and code books.
