Variables
To collect the statistics, over 3,500 respondents from two random samples (one summer, one winter) of the population (excluding the under-fives) completed seven-day diaries covering each half-hour from 5.00 a.m. to 2.00 a.m. Each diary was coded, using a summary list of 40 activity categories, distinguishing between main and secondary activities.
