Abstract

Since 2009 and to this day, YS has collaborated with the Norwegian Labor Research Institute (AFI) on the YS Employment Outlook Survey. Throughout these years, the Employment Outlook Survey has established itself as one of the most important tools for measuring the status and development of Norwegian working life from year to year. With the help of the researchers at AFI, good diagnoses are made about the current situation, trends are analyzed and attempts are made to look into the future. There is no conclusion as to how the state of working life is or will be, but through the Employment Outlook Survey you have the opportunity to look at the development both holistically and in more detail. The survey puts old and new knowledge into a system, and you can look at working life with fresh eyes. The survey also puts us in a position to describe connections that we were previously unaware of. For YS and the member associations, this means new opportunities to assess the members' needs and perceptions. Although it does not tell us everything, it gives a good picture of Norwegian working life in general. The Employment Outlook Survey tracks developments in working life areas such as the legitimacy of trade unions, attitudes to collective wage formation, security and connection, gender equality, working conditions, stress and coping and competence. The survey covers Norwegian employees and is carried out annually. A core of questions is kept constant from year to year, while others are asked ad hoc.
