The time period for keeping the diary was generally a week, the participants were mostly 15-17 years old, and the diaries were written in 1999 and in 2001. The seven diaries written in 1999 focused mainly on experiences and perceptions of mobile phone use, while the ten diaries written in 2001 covered media use as well as mobile phone use. In 2001, the participants also wrote a short essay titled "The media and I". The dataset is only available in Finnish.
