Abstract

This special survey contains two objects from the field of traffic statistics: motor vehicle and holiday trips motor vehicle: A comprehensive inventory statistic on all officially sanctioned motor vehicles has existed for decades in Austria but there is not sufficient information on the performance of these vehicles. Only the performances of the carrying trade are statistically documented; on the performance of private vehicles only insufficient appraisals on basis of the fuel consumption exists. However, since not only the number but also the frequency and duration of the usage of the existing vehicles is of importance, Mikrozensus helps closing these information gaps. holiday trips: With the growing prosperity and increasing motorisation changes in holiday habits take place: Apart from the main holiday in summer, more and more people go on a second holiday in winter or on short trips over the weekends. In contrast to the survey on holidays in Dezember 1969 (Mikrozensus MZ6904) the emphasis is now on the short trips such as weekend-trips (as long as they contain one overnight stay outside the residential area)
