The information about the various encyclopedias are collected through searches in Rex.kb.dk (Det Kongelige Bibliotek) og Libris.kb.se (Kungliga Biblioteket), and the Danish seach tool bibliotek.dk and Lovisa and KAT57 - the seach tools of Lund University Library. The database includes extensive bibliographic information about the publishers, editors and printers, and also information about the format of the encyclopedias and their page layout are included. In order to integrate all the information in the database, I have studied the first volume, volume 1 of each encyclopedia. Purpose: On the basis of a bibliographic investigation, the purpose is to map the publishing of encyclopedias in Sweden and Denmark in the period 1870-1970.Databasen er udviklet med henblik på at kunne sammenligne Nordisk familjeboks og Salmonsens Konversationsleksikons trykte udgaver med genrens øvrige udgivelser. Informationerne om de forskellige encyklopædier er samlet via søgninger i de nationale digitale søgemaskiner Rex.kb.dk (Det Kongelige Bibliotek) og Libris.kb.se (Kungliga Biblioteket). Derudover er søgningerne blevet komplementeret med søgning i bibliotek.dk, Lunds universitetsbiblioteks søgebaser Lovisa og KAT57. Encyklopædidatabasen indeholder omfattende bibliografisk information om encyklopædiernes forlag, redaktører og trykkerier, ligesom også information om encyklopædiernes format og bogsidestruktur indgår. For at kunne integrere alle oplysningerne i databasen, har jeg undersøgt det første bind, bind 1, af hver enkelt encyklopædi.
