Basic information and opinions were requested from national supporters of END in Britain to obtain an overview of support and opinion. Main Topics: Variables cover age, sex, working status, social class, age completed education, voting preference, whether respondent is a national Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) member and when joined, membership of local peace groups and if there was any European dimension to such groups, membership of Amnesty International, church, political party, trade union, the United Nations Association (UNA), and womens' groups, and whether active for nuclear disarmament through these groups. Questions were asked on the fields of activism (plus nuclear disarmament and poverty overseas) respondents would ideally like to work in if possible, and who or what had influenced them in joining END. Opinions were also elicited on Britain in NATO, Britain in the EEC, overseas aid, nuclear energy and non-violent direct action. Respondents were also asked their views on which direction END should take organisationally in future: to continue ad hoc, democratise more, or merge with CND or another group.
