      <abstract xml:lang="en">Innovations in European companies.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Topics: innovative activities of the company in the last two years: introduction of new or significantly improved goods, introduction of new or significantly improved services, introduction of new or significantly improved production processes, introduction of new or significantly improved logistics or distribution services, introduction of new or significantly improved support processes, introduction of new or significantly improved organisational methods, patent application, research and development within the company, research and development performed by other companies for own enterprise; investment in innovation activities in the last year; percentage of the company’s total spending in 2006 invested in research and development; development of the following types of innovation in the last two years without using R&amp;D activities: products, processes, organisational methods; predominant type of innovation; staff training needs with regard to the aforementioned types of innovation; most important department with regard to ideas for innovative activities; introduction of new or significantly improved products to customers in the last two years using the following methods of innovating: selling on products of other producers with little or no modification, modifying products of other producers, developing new or significantly improved products in-house, developing new or significantly improved products in collaboration with partners; support with regard to modifying products of other producers from: original developer, companies that use similar products, customers, external experts; introduction of new or significantly improved processes in the last two years using the following methods of innovating: acquiring processes developed by other producers with little or no modification, modifying processes of other producers, developing new or significantly improved processes in-house, developing new or significantly improved processes in collaboration with partners; support with regard to modifying processes of other producers from: original developer, companies that use similar processes, customers, external experts; percentage of staff’s total time to develop product and process innovations spent on: modifying products or processes of other producers, developing products or processes in-house, developing products or processes in collaboration with partners; introduction of new or significantly improved organisational methods in the last two years using the following methods of innovating: adopting organisational methods developed by other producers with little or no modification, modifying organisational methods developed by other producers, developing new or significantly improved organisational methods in-house, developing new or significantly improved organisational methods in collaboration with partners; application for or reception of selected publicly funded schemes to support innovation: direct support to finance R&amp;D based innovation projects, direct support to finance innovation projects without R&amp;D, infrastructure subsidies, subsidies for equipment, tax reductions for R&amp;D expenditures, tax reduction for other expenditures, participation in trade fairs or trade missions, networking with research institutes, networking with companies, information on market needs and regulations; importance of the aforementioned schemes for company’s innovation projects.  Demography: information about the company (limited to activities in the own country): number of employees, company size, year of company establishment; position of respondent at the company; production in other countries; company sector; development of turnover in the last two years; most important markets.  Additionally coded was: interview ID; respondent ID; language of the interview; country; date of interview; time of the beginning of the interview; duration of the interview; NACE-Code; region; weighting factor.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="de">Methoden der Innovation in Unternehmen.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="de">Themen: jüngste Innovationsaktivitäten und Investitionsumfang; Prozentanteil der Innovations-Gesamtausgaben für Forschung und Entwicklung; Innovationen (Produktinnovation, Prozessinnovation oder organisatorische Innovationen) im Unternehmen ohne Forschung und Entwicklung; Schwerpunkt auf Produktinnovation oder Prozessinnovation; Weiterbildung der Beschäftigten zur Förderung von Produktinnovationen, Prozessinnovationen oder organisatorische Innovationen; Ideenquelle im Unternehmen für Innovationen (Produktionsingenieure, Marketingabteilung, Mitarbeiter im Bereich Design, Management oder Forschungsabteilung); Verkauf neuer bzw. verbesserter Produkte unter Nutzung ausgewählter innovativer Methoden; Hilfe für die Modifikation von Fremdprodukten: Der Entwickler des Fremdprodukts, Wettbewerber, Kunden oder externe Berater; Prozessinnovationen (Verbesserung von Produktionsanalysen, Logistik und Wartungssystemen) induziert durch: Adaption oder Modifikation von Fremdprozessen, unabhängige oder kollaborative Entwicklung neuartiger Prozesse; Art der erhaltenen Unterstützung; Prozentanteil der Arbeitszeit für: Modifizierung von Fremdprodukten, unternehmensinterne Entwicklung von Produkten sowie die Entwicklung von Verfahren in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Firmen bzw. Beratern; Änderungen der Managementstruktur, Arbeitsorganisation und Interaktionsmethoden mit anderen Firmen und Methodenart; beantragte oder erhaltene Subventionen aus öffentlichen Fonds zur Innovationsförderung sowie Unterstützungsart; Abhängigkeit der Innovationsprojekte von der Förderung aus dem öffentlichen Fond.  Demographie: Angaben zum Unternehmen (beschränkt auf Unternehmensaktivitäten im eigenen Land): Anzahl der Beschäftigten, Unternehmensgröße, Gründungsjahr; Position des Befragten im Unternehmen; Produktion im Ausland; Branche; Entwicklung des Umsatzes in den letzten zwei Jahren; wichtigste Märkte.
