      <abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;P&gt;Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.&lt;/P&gt;The survey is part of a project to study the effects of local authority housing policy on industrial location and job mobility. This part comprises a case study of Salford County Borough, Lancashire which illustrates the operation of other forces, such as market forces and migration as well as housing policies of local and central government, which are producing residentially segregated areas. Data were collected in two waves, in 1964 (SN:33) and in 1965 (SN:59).</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;B&gt;Main Topics&lt;/B&gt;:&lt;BR&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Attitudinal/Behavioural Questions&lt;br&gt; Present residence: like/dislike, geographical and subjective distance of respondent's and spouse's relatives, frequency of contact. Previous residence: type, tenure, length, place, lodgers. Neighbourliness, visiting neighbours, attitude to new community centre and its use.&lt;br&gt; Occupation: type, nature of firm, length, full/part time, journey to work (method, time, cost).&lt;br&gt; Men's drinking habits (pub visits), watching Whit walks, membership of clubs, recent participation in street or pub picnic.&lt;br&gt; Background Variables&lt;br&gt; Age, sex, marital status, age at marriage, age when first came to Salford, relation to oldest tenant.</abstract>
