Topics: a) General variables of life, education and professional training, positions in professional career, political offices and offices in the workers´ movement (party organizations, journalism, unions, cooperatives, health insurance companies), behavior at the party convention (voting behavior, speeches, motions made), modalities of delegating by the individual Reichstag election organizations. b) Analysis of motions, handling of points of order and conducting negotiations, delegates´ political skill, opposition´s legitimacy, speakers´ performance, order, list and speaking time, representation of groups within the party, voting behavior.a) Kollektivbiographische Untersuchung der Lebensläufe der sozialdemokratischen Parteitagsdelegierten im allgemeinen (vor allem im Hinblick auf berufliche und politische Karrieremuster) und im Spiegelbild des Hamburger Parteitages; b) Inhaltsanalyse der Parteitagsprotokolle und der einschlägigen Artikel in der Presse. Themen: a) allgemeine Lebenslaufvariablen, schulische und berufliche Ausbildung, Positionen der Berufskarriere, Ämter in Politik und in der Arbeiterbewegung (Parteiorganisation, Publizistik, Gewerkschaften, Genossenschaften, Krankenkassen), Verhalten auf dem Parteitag (u.a. Abstimmungsverhalten, Redebeiträge, Antragsstellungen), Modalitäten der Delegierung durch den jeweiligen SPD Reichstagswahlverein; b) Analyse von Anträgen, Handhabung der Geschäftsordnung und Verhandlungsführung, political skill der Delegierten, Legitimität von Opposition, Rednerauftritt, -reihenfolge, -liste, und Redezeit, Repräsentation von innerparteilichen Gruppen, Abstimmungsverhalten. CensusTotalerhebung Sources: a) Systematic investigation of printed sources: the official (and strongly edited) minutes of the party convention and numerous social democratic and common daily newspapers (otherwise as with the projects BIOKAND and BIOSOP). b) Systematic investigation of archive sources: records of the political police in the city archives in Hamburg and particularly the special country-wide survey of police authorities on all party convention delegates and the hand-written (unedited) minutes of the party convention.Quellen: a) systematische Erschließung von gedruckten Quellen: das offizielle (und stark redigierte) Parteitagsprotokoll und zahlreiche sozialdemokratische und bürgerliche Tageszeitungen (sonst wie bei den Projekten BIOKAND und BIOSOP); b) systematische Erschließung archivalischer Quellen: Bestände der Politischen Polizei im Staatsarchiv Hamburg, insbesondere die spezielle reichsweite Befragung der Polizeibehörden zur allen Parteitagsdelegierten und das handschriftliche (unredigierte) Parteitagsprotokoll.
