The teaching dataset is a subset which has been subjected to certain simplifications and additions for the purpose of learning and teaching. <br> <br> The main differences are:<ul><li>the number of variables has been reduced</li><li>a reduced User Guide with codebook is provided</li><li>some variables have been recoded to reduce the level of detail</li></ul>Further information is available in the study documentation (see below) which includes a User Guide.<br> <br> For the second edition (August 2016) a new weighting variable has been added to the data and the user guide has been updated accordingly.<B>Main Topics</B>:<BR>Topics covered include: total expenditure; household income; socio-economic status; and household characteristics.<br> United Kingdom National Respondents to the LCF 2013 (see SN 7702). Numeric Cross-sectional (one-time) studyThe LCF is a repeated cross-sectional study, but this teaching dataset has been compiled using only data from the LCF 2013. Multi-stage stratified random sampleSee documentation for SN 7702 for details of LCF sampling, and the documentation for this study for details of sampling used for the teaching dataset.
