      <abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;P&gt;Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.&lt;/P&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">The aim of this study was to explore the experiences and perceptions of dismissed workers and their ex-employers who had been involved in an application for unfair dismissal to an industrial tribunal, whether or not the case was eventually heard by a tribunal.&lt;br&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;B&gt;Main Topics&lt;/B&gt;:&lt;BR&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Variables&lt;br&gt; Characteristics of parties; advice and representation, knowledge of and views about conciliation stage, the role of Acas and whether settlement was offered; details of Tribunal hearings, perceived effects of representation; role of Tribunal members, assessment of fairness; overall assessment of Tribunal system, cost and time involved effects on policy and practice.</abstract>
