The study consisted of: <li>I. A survey of parents of young carers aged five to 17, together with an interview with the young carer themselves if they were aged 11 or over; and <li>II.A ‘comparison survey’ of parents of all children aged five to 17, again together with a young person’s interview if they were aged 11 or over. The surveys were conducted as part of the TNS Face to Face Omnibus survey. The rationale for using the Omnibus and interviewing young carers from age 11 upwards is contained in the study report. Comparison survey: 304 parents of with children aged 5 to 17 in the household, 38 16 or 17 year olds plus 24 interviews with a 11 to 17 year old if available for interview at the same time as the parent.
