Aineisto on kerätty osana Uppsalan yliopiston, Tampereen yliopiston ja Länsi-Norjan tutkimusinstituutti Vestlandsforskinging NORDWIT-hanketta (Nordic Centre of Excellence on Women in Technology Driven Careers). Haastatteluissa haastateltavia pyydettiin kertomaan tutkimus- ja innovaatiotyötä koskeva uraelämäkertansa. Lisäksi kysyttiin nykyisestä työtilanteesta ja -yhteisöstä, tulevaisuuden suunnitelmista, sukupuolesta T&I-työssä sekä työn ja perheen yhteensovittamisesta. Haastateltavat kertovat työuran alkamisesta, merkittävistä käänteistä, siirtymistä ja uratavoitteistaan sekä työpaikan sijainnin merkityksestä ja perheen vaikutuksesta uravalintoihin. Haastateltavat kertovat myös muun muassa mitkä asiat ovat auttaneet haastateltavia työuralla, millaista kannustusta ja millaisia verkostoja heillä on ollut. Lisäksi haastatteluissa käsitellään työn merkitystä elämässä sekä työn ja vapaa-ajan yhteensovittamista. Sukupuolen vaikutusta nykyisessä työssä ja työpaikassa arvioidaan, samoin kuin tasa-arvo- ja yhdenvertaisuussuunnitelman näkyvyyttä haastateltavan työssä. Oman tutkimusryhmän toimintaa, sen rakentamista, kansainvälistymistä ja sukupuolten tasa-arvon edistämistä pohditaan myös. Yrittäjyydestä kertovat yrittäjinä työskentelevät, mutta myös muut pohtivat ajatuksia yrittäjyydestä omalla kohdallaan. Koska haastattelut olivat elämäkerrallisia, niissä kerrotut kokemukset ajoittuivat uran eri vaiheisiin ja eri vuosikymmenille, enimmäkseen 2000- ja 2010-luvuille. Haastattelujen kesto oli 1,5-2 tuntia. Taustatietona haastateltavasta kerrotaan mm. syntymävuosikymmen, lasten lukumäärä, ylin tutkinto, pääasiallinen tieteenala, työtehtävä sekä työpaikan tyyppi. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata.The dataset consists of interviews with women who have doctoral degrees and work in the field of health technology. The data were collected as part of the NORDWIT (Nordic Centre of Excellence on Women in Technology Driven Careers) project by Uppsala University, Tampere University and Norwegian research institute Vestlandsforsking. The main focus of the interviews were the interviewees' career stories in research and innovation. The interviewees were also asked about their current employment situation and work community, future plans, gender in the research and innovation field, and balancing work and family. The interviewees discussed the start of their careers, major career events, transitions, and career goals, as well as the importance of the location of their workplace and the influence of their family on their career choices. The interviewees were also asked about the things that had helped them in their careers, the encouragement they have received and the networks they have built up. The interviews covered the importance of work in the interviewee's lives and how they balanced work and leisure time. The impact of gender in the interviewees' current jobs and workplaces was assessed, as well as the visibility of an equality plan at the interviewee's job. The activities of the interviewees' own research teams, their formation, internationalisation, and the promotion of gender equality were also discussed. Entrepreneurship was discussed with those interviewees who worked as entrepreneurs, but others also reflected on their own ideas about entrepreneurship. As the interviews were biographical, the experiences discussed had happened at different stages and in different decades of their careers, mostly in the 2000s and 2010s. The interviews lasted between 1.5 and 2 hours. Background information included, among others, the interviewee's decade of birth, number of children, highest level of education, job title, and type of employer. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD. The dataset is only available in Finnish.
