As there is hardly any representative data on the infrastructure and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) throughout Switzerland in the education sector - especially in primary schools - any gaps in data and information should be closed when developing indicators. The Institute for Interdisciplinary Economic and Social Research (IWS) of the University of Applied Sciences Solothurn Northwestern Switzerland has been commissioned to assess this ICT infrastructure and develop corresponding indicators. The study aims at the following aspects: - Complete overview of previous surveys on the dissemination of information and communication technologies at primary schools in Switzerland - Identification of data and information gaps on ICT infrastructure in primary schools in Switzerland - Identification of key indicators of the ICT infrastructure - If necessary to close existing data and information gaps, a representative nationwide survey on computer density, type, age and location of computers and financial investments, among other things. - A meta-analysis based on the data and information researched and collected - Selection and development of indicators for ICT infrastructure in primary schools in SwitzerlandDas Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS) ist im Rahmen der Koordinationsgruppe Informationsgesellschaft (KIG) des Bundes beauftragt, Statistiken und Indikatoren zur Informationsgesellschaft zu entwickeln. Da es im Bildungsbereich - vor allem bei Volksschulen - kaum gesamtschweizerisch repräsentative Daten zur Infrastruktur und zur Nutzung von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (ICT) gibt, sollen im Rahmen der Indikatorenentwicklung allfällige Daten- und Informationslücken geschlossen werden. Das Institut für interdisziplinäre Wirtschafts- und Sozialforschung (IWS) der Fachhochschule Solothurn Nordwestschweiz erhält den Auftrag, diese ICT-Infrastruktur zu erfassen und entsprechende Indikatoren zu entwickeln.
