Tutkimuksen on toteuttanut Opiskelun ja koulutuksen tutkimussäätiö Otus ja rahoittanut Tampereen ylioppilaskunta (TREY), Turun yliopiston ylioppilaskunta (TYY), Itä-Suomen yliopiston ylioppilaskunta (ISYY), Jyväskylän yliopiston ylioppilaskunta (JYY) sekä Åbo Akademis Studentkår (ÅAS). Aluksi vastaajilta kysyttiin huoltajien toimeentulosta, toiselle paikkakunnalle opintojen perässä muuttamisesta, asumismuodosta ja asunnottomuudesta sekä talouden menojen jakamisesta. Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan kuukausittaisten menojen suuruutta. Kysyttiin, saivatko vastaajat opintorahaa tällä hetkellä suoritettuihin opintoihin, ja miltä opintotukikuukausien riittävyys tällä hetkellä näytti. Kiinnostuneita oltiin myös opintolainan nostamisen syistä sekä vastaajien muista tulonlähteistä, kuten vanhemmilta tai muilta läheisiltä saadusta tuesta. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin työnteosta, syistä tehdä töitä opintojen ohella sekä työnteon vaikutuksista opintojen etenemiseen. Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan oman varallisuuden riittävyyttä ja omia työllistymismahdollisuuksia valmistumisen jälkeen. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, olivatko vastaajat viimeisen 12 kuukauden aikana nostaneet kulutusluottoja, hakeneet ruoka-apua tai tehneet muita toimia tiukan rahatilanteen vuoksi. Lopuksi kysyttiin koronapandemian vaikutuksista taloudelliseen tilanteeseen. Taustamuuttujia aineistossa ovat muun muassa opintojen aloitusvuosi, korkeakoulu, tiedekunta, ikäryhmä, sukupuoli, äidinkieli, huollettavien lasten määrä sekä vähemmistöihin kuuluminen.The data surveys university students' incomes, employment, housing and changes in these aspects. Respondents were asked to assess the adequacy of their own financial resources and their own employment prospects after graduation. Respondents were also asked whether they had taken out consumer credit, applied for food aid or taken any other action in the last 12 months to deal with a tight financial situation. Finally, the respondents were asked about the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on their financial situation. Background variables included year of starting studies, university, faculty, age group, gender, native language, number of children in care and minority status.
