      <abstract xml:lang="en">User language preferences online.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Topics: mother tongue; used languages to read or watch internet content and frequency of use; used languages to write in the internet and frequency of use; frequency of using languages different from own language with regard to the following internet activities: communication with friends and acquaintances, communication for professional reasons, looking for information, search and buy products or services, browsing for entertainment, online banking, looking for job or education opportunities, looking for information on consumer rights, looking for healthcare issues; attitude towards selected statements: concern to miss interesting information on websites in different languages, preference to visit website in own language, acceptance to use English language website in case of missing website in own language, websites produces in own country should be available in country’s official language, websites produces in own country should have other language versions.  Demography: sex; age; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; type of community; internet use (at home, at work, at school).  Additionally coded was: interview ID; interviewer ID; language of the interview; country; date of interview; time of the beginning of the interview; duration of the interview; call history; region; weighting factor.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="de">Verwendung von Fremdsprachen bei der Rezeption von Internetmedien oder im Schriftverkehr. Nutzung von Fremdsprachen bei verschiedenen Internetaktivitäten. Meinung zum Vorhandensein von Webseiten in mehreren Fremdsprachen.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="de">Themen: Häufigkeit der Internetnutzung in den letzten vier Wochen; Muttersprache; Verwendungshäufigkeit von Fremdsprachen, um Inhalte im Internet sowie im Schriftverkehr zu verfolgen; Nutzung von Fremdsprachen bei folgenden Internetaktivitäten: Kommunikation mit Freunden, berufliche Kommunikation, Lesen von Nachrichten, Interneteinkauf, Surfen zur Unterhaltung, Online-Banking, Informationen zu Berufs- und Bildungsmöglichkeiten, Verbraucherrechten sowie Gesundheitsthemen; Übereinstimmung mit den folgenden Aussagen: Gefühl des Verpassens, weil Webseiten in einer Fremdsprache verfasst wurden, Präferenz für Webseiten in der eigenen Sprache, Akzeptanz der Nutzung von englischen Webseiten, im eigenen Land produzierte Webseiten sollten entweder in der Muttersprache oder auch in mehreren Fremdsprachen abrufbar sein.  Demographie: Geschlecht; Alter; Alter bei Beendigung der Ausbildung; Beruf; berufliche Stellung; Urbanisierungsgrad; Internetnutzung (zu Hause, am Arbeitsplatz, in der Schule etc.).  Zusätzlich verkodet wurde: Interviewnummer; Interviewer-ID; Interviewsprache; Land; Interviewdatum; Interviewdauer (Interviewbeginn und Interviewende); Anzahl der Kontaktversuche; Region; Gewichtungsfaktor.</abstract>
