      <abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;P&gt;Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.&lt;/P&gt;The aim of this project is to study the structure of careers within the Officer Corps in the period 1674 - 1934. Data are drawn from a history of the Coldstream Guards that includes 796 individuals. A second regiment, the Scots Guard Officers Corps was similarly examined. It comprised 1950 individual careers.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;B&gt;Main Topics&lt;/B&gt;:&lt;BR&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Variables&lt;br&gt; Year entered senior command, year left senior command, highest rank attained. Saw action, wounded in action, killed in action. Year began commanding Battalion as Senior Major, year became Lieutenant Colonel, year became Colonel (commander of regiment), year entered Scots Guard Officers Corps; rank at which entered Scots Guard Officers Corp.</abstract>
