      <abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;P&gt;Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.&lt;/P&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">The main objectives were:&lt;br&gt; to assess changes that have taken place since the first &lt;i&gt;Company Level Industrial Relations Survey&lt;/i&gt; in 1985 (Study not available via the UK Data Archive.)&lt;br&gt; to investigate how employee relations fits in with broader policy making&lt;br&gt; to explore the relationship between employee relations policy and financial control mechanisms&lt;br&gt; to consider the implications on employee relations policy and practice of the fact that many UK enterprises are ultimately  overseas owned, and that many have overseas subsidiaries.&lt;br&gt; Data from interviews at European head offices in 26 overseas-owned companies have been withheld until initial analysis is complete.&lt;br&gt;</abstract>
