The first in the series examined individuals' attitudes to learning (SN:3305), the second was concerned with employers' attitudes to learning (SN:3445) while the third covered the providers of adult learning (SN:3446). Taken together, the three studies have been designed to produce an overall picture and explanation of attitudes to adult learning.<br>The aim of this study, the second in the series, was to increase understanding of the employers' role in lifetime learning; how they contribute to lifetime learning, their attitudes towards it and the factors which shape their policies and practices affecting lifetime learning.<B>Main Topics</B>:<BR>Employment; training provided (type and occupation); career structure; human resource practices: training assessment, payment for training, training information, careers guidance; attitudes towards various human resource practices; views on factors motivating individuals to train; practices encouraging individuals to train.
