      <abstract xml:lang="en">Attitudes of young people towards the EU.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Topics: meaning of the EU to the respondent; attitude towards the following statements on the situation within the EU in ten years’ time: better quality of life, more opportunities to find work, more equality between men and women, less discrimination against foreigners and people from other cultures, easier to travel or live in Europe, more social problems, no more existence of a European Union; regular leisure activities; membership in an organisation; membership in the following kinds of organisation: sports club, youth organisation, trade union, political party, organisation in the domain of human rights, organisation in the domain of animal or environmental protection, religious organisation, cultural organisation, consumer organisation, special interest club, other; personal engagement in voluntary work; knowledge test on EU citizenship: right to move permanently to any country in the EU, right to work in any country of the EU, right to vote and to stand as a candidate in local elections in the country of residence, access to healthcare and social welfare anywhere in the European Union, ability to study in any European Union country; used sources of information on the rights and responsibilities of EU citizens; preconditions to be more active in society: lower voting age, compulsory educational programme about citizenship, more programmes encouraging voluntary work, consultation of young people before public decisions concerning them are taken; most effective way of political participation in the EU; voting in an election or a referendum in the last three years; kind of own political participation in the last year; political interest; most important reason for not being able to find a job; most important authority with regard to finding a job; main reason for young adults to live longer in their parents’ home; main difficulty with regard to working abroad; most probable measure to be taken in the case of unemployment: accept any job without conditions, accept any job with conditions, do voluntary work, try to set up own company, work in the ´black economy´, do an apprenticeship; most important skill with regard to finding a job; main source of income.
