On topics of women’s and men’s sexual and reproductive health there are only few empirical data in Austria. This study takes an inventory of the existing data and has the aim of creating an empirical data stock on selected topics of sexual and reproductive health. The main topics are relationships, sexual behaviour, contraception and the desire to have children. The central question of this study is whether there are gender-specific differences concerning the different aspects of sexual and reproductive health, especially the aspects on the topics relationships, sexuality, attitude towards contraception and the desire to have children. Also different phases of life as well as age groups, the level of education and regional aspects were taken into account. Questions:->- relationships (type and duration of the relationship; number of previous relationships, self-assessment of the quality of the relationship)->- sexual satisfaction and overall satisfaction with life->- sexual education (important persons and media for sexual education; knowledge on topics concerning sexual and reproductive health)->- menarche and first sexual encounter (subjective experience of the menarche; age and contraception used at the time of the first sexual encounter; reasons, of no contraception had been used)->- contraception method used at the time of the interview (in different age groups; reasons, of no contraception was used; responsibility for contraception in a relationship; popularity and use of the morning-after pill)->- desire to have children, voluntary and unwanted childlessness (desired and actual number of children; reason if there is no (further) desire to have children; frequency of unfulfilled desire to have children)->- pregnancy and birth (frequency of pregnancies, pregnancy termination, miscarriage and premature birth; frequency of postnatal depression)->- characteristics of sexual behaviour (number of partners; use of condoms with new partners; number of affairs; frequency and satisfaction with the sexual intercourse; frequency of sexual problems)->- frequency of menopausal symptoms and use of hormone replacement therapy->- attitude towards controversial sexual questions (pre-marital sex, affairs, homosexuality, lesbian sexuality, pregnancy termination and abortion)->- frequency of experiences with same-sex partners->- frequency of HIV test->- experiences of sexual abuse during childhood->- experiences with sexual harassment at work
