For the years 1970 to 1989 the data also contains information on births and infant mortality on the county level. The information is based on the Statistical Yearbooks of the German Democratic Republic. The State Central Bureau for Statistics recorded the number of births, still births and infant mortality on a yearly basis. <br> The research for this dataset was financed by the research grant KO 2239/3-1 “Spontane Revolution oder lange Wende?
