Small areas, called datazones, are ranked from 1 (most deprived) to least deprived. The ranking is based on information covering a number of different types or 'domains' of deprivation; income, employment, health, education, access to services, housing and crime (not 2004).<br> <br> Further information is available from the Scottish Government’s <a href="http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/SIMD" title="Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation">SIMD</a> web pages.<br><B>Main Topics</B>:<BR>Rankings are provided for each of the individual SIMD domains and for the overall SIMD which is constructed from these domains.<br> <br> <i>Standard Measures:</i><br> The SIMD follows the domain methodology developed by the Social Disadvantage and Research Centre, University of Oxford.
