Ziel der Begleitstudie war es, eine repräsentative Wunschlandschaft der Schweiz derart zu zeichnen, dass aufgrund der Konzeption der Studie über die Erhebung des Status Quo hinaus beliebige Bezüge zu Wunschszenarien späterer Generationen herstellbar werden. Mit dem Projekt Wunschlandschaft Schweiz wurde eine Grundlage geschaffen, welche es erlaubt, im Falle späterer Wiederholungen der Untersuchung Veränderungen des Schweizer Stimmungsbildes über die Zeit aufzeigen zu können. Ebenso wären aufgrund der erarbeiteten Konzeption spätere ländervergleichende Untersuchungen möglich. Die langfristige Sicherung der Zugänglichkeit der Daten für künftige Verwendungszwecke war eine explizite Auflage der Sponsoren IBM Schweiz und Swiss Re, die damit über die Dauer der Expo.02 hinaus einen Nachhaltigkeitsbeitrag leisten. Die befragten Personen konnten drei Wünsche ohne jede Einschränkung offen äussern. Zusätzlich stand ihnen je ein Wunsch für die Schweiz, für die Welt, für die Männer in der Schweiz und die Frauen in der Schweiz und für die Zeit nach dem Tod zur Verfügung. Schliesslich wurden die Personen aufgefordert eine Figur anzugeben, welche sie gerne sein möchten und eine Verwünschung zu äussern, welche sie sich für irgendeine Person ausdenken würden. Die Studie wird ergänzt durch eine historische Einbettung des Themas von lic. phil. Orlando Farrèr, Zürich, und eine soziologische Betrachtung und Kommentierung der Resultate durch das cultur prospective Institut, Zürich.To accompany and supplement the artistic and thus qualitatively oriented exhibition project sWISH* at the Biel Arteplage of Expo.02, the sponsors IBM Switzerland and Swiss Re decided to commission a quantitatively oriented, scientific accompanying study. Finally, the persons were asked to indicate a character they would like to be and to formulate a curse which they would make up for any person.
